It’s a rare occasion where the sequel of a movie is better than the one that came before it. But it happens, as evidenced by The Dark Knight, Shrek 2, and The Silence of the Lambs, which was originally a sequel to the 1986 film Manhunter.
AMC delivered a deliciously queer twist on one of the world’s most revered vampire romances when it dropped Interview With A Vampire in 2022. However, the toxic love, loss, and romance of our brooding gay vampires won’t be the spotlight for the third season. While it’s too early to tell if The Vampire Lestat is going to be better than the seasons before it, you’d be remiss not to catch Lestat’s transition into campy, vampire superstardom.

However, you can catch both seasons of Interview With A Vampire on Netflix. Even though it took almost two years for the first season to drop on Netflix, we have faith that fans won’t have to wait that long to sink their teeth into their favourite vampire romance.

What is The Vampire Lestat about?
The Vampire Lestat is the third season of Interview With A Vampire, starring Sam Reid and Jacob Anderson reprising their roles as forerunners Lestat and Louis.
The show takes place after Louis gives his recount to journalist Daniel Molloy (Eric Bogosian). Fast-forward to 2025, Lestat crashes out when he sees Molloy's publication and the inaccuracies of Louis’ portrayal. So, he responds in the most Lestat way possible. By becoming a rock star.
It's an interesting switch, going from one narrator in the haunting luxury of New Orleans to another in a modern, moving setting. While the tone does feel a little different to the seasons before it, it’s still a campy, fun watch that has the same emotional storytelling and indulgent sexuality that Interview With A Vampire does so well.
Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles series (of which The Vampire Lestat and Interview With A Vampire are based on) is 13 books long. Nothing has been confirmed, but considering that AMC Networks has agreed to acquire Anne Rice’s major literary works, we could be in for more seasons of Interview With A Vampire, or potentially even a crossover with the Mayfair Witches, which dropped its second season last January.
