After months of teasers and leaks, the new iPhone 17 lineup has been revealed. During Apple's ‘awe-dropping’ event this morning, they announced the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, the hefty iPhone 17 Pro Max, and the extra skinny iPhone Air.
All four devices boast stronger processors, longer battery life, a snappier processor, and an 8x optical zoom lens. Prices start at $1,299 for the iPhone 17 and $1,599 for the iPhone Air. The Pro and Pro Max are slightly pricier, coming in at $1,749 and $1,899, respectively.
All four smartphones will be available to pre-order from 8pm SGT on September 12, ahead of a September 19 release date.
iPhone 17 Pro & iPhone 17 Pro Max

The iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max have seen some of the greatest upgrades this year. For the first time, Apple has moved from titanium to an aluminium construction for a unibody design. The result is a frame that’s 20 times better at dissipating heat, while also delivering better sustained performance.
The frame was also made to prioritise better battery life and an upgraded rear camera array. This includes three new 48MP telephoto lenses, capable of shooting 8x optical zoom at 12MP and 4x at its full 48MP. Two 48MP wide and ultrawide sensors, plus an 18MP selfie camera lens. The selfie camera has been improved with a Center Stage feature, which allows for better stabilisation and higher quality images and videos. Additionally, if you want to take a selfie in landscape mode, you won’t have to rotate your iPhone.
“The iPhone 17 Pro is by far the most powerful iPhone we’ve ever made, rebuilt from the inside out to maximise performance and deliver an enormous leap in battery life,” said Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, Greg Joswiak.
The iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max both have the same display size as last year’s models, coming in at 6.3 inches and 6.9 inches, respectively. This time around, they’ve nixed the glass at the back of the smartphone and replaced it with Ceramic Shield 2, making it more durable than ever. According to Apple, Ceramic Shield 2 is three times more scratch and four times more crack-resistant than previous models.
Apple claims the iPhone 17 Pro Max will boast the longest battery life among any iPhone, with up to 39 hours of playback. The iPhone 17 Pro will also receive a hefty battery life upgrade, allowing for up to 33 hours of playback. Charging speed also gets a boost, meaning it’ll take less than half an hour to get your smartphone from flat to 50%, as long as you’ve got a high-wattage power adapter.
Full pricing for the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max is as follows:

Both the iPhone 17 Pro Max and iPhone 17 Pro offer three new colours – silver, deep blue, and cosmic orange.
iPhone Air

In place of the ‘Plus’ model in this year's lineup, Apple have announced the iPhone Air. It’s the slimmest of them all, measuring at 5.6mm thick and weighing 165g. Sacrifices were made, though. The iPhone Air has pared back to one rear camera and only supports eSIM for mobile connectivity. However, according to Apple, this is all part of an effort to streamline without sacrificing power.
Industrial designer Abidur Chowdhury said, “Our intention was to make an iPhone that feels like a piece of the future. Powerful, yet so thin and light it seems to disappear in your hands.”
It’s protected by the same Ceramic Shield 2, and features a 6.5-inch always-on display.
The iPhone Air is the only phone in the lineup to have a spacecraft-grade titanium frame. It’s also fitted with the same durable Ceramic Shield coating as the Pro and Pro Max models, making it three times more scratch and four times more crack-resistant than previous models.
Like the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max, the iPhone Air features a 48MP fusion camera system. However, it has just one camera on the back, and the new 18MP selfie camera on the front.
The iPhone Air is powered by an A19 Pro chip, with one less GPU core than the Pro and Pro Max models. The CPU alone is up to 40 per cent faster than the chip in the iPhone 14 Pro. Pair that with the C1X, Apple’s new in-house modem, which is twice as fast as the previous C1 chipset, and the result is an iPhone that’s pretty damn power-efficient.
When it comes to battery life, you’ll get up to 27 hours of video playback. Interestingly, Apple states the iPhone Air boasts ‘all-day’ battery life. This is thanks to features like the Adaptive Power Mode, which learns your habits to effectively manage the amount of juice you use each day.
Full pricing for the iPhone Air is as follows:
- iPhone Air 256GB: $1,599
- iPhone Air 512GB: $1,899
- iPhone Air 1TB: $2,199
In terms of colours, you can choose between cloud white, sky blue, and space black.
iPhone 17

The standard iPhone 17 has been upgraded with a slightly larger 6.3-inch screen, with a 120Hz ProMotion display, common in other Pro models since the release of the iPhone 14 Pro. The result is motion that appears smoother, as well as an always-on display.
The improved durability is thanks again to the Ceramic Shield 2, which boasts three times the scratch resistance. It's also powered by the new A19 chipset, which Apple says is 20% faster than the A18 present in the iPhone 16. It delivers on the power efficiency and battery life front, with up to 30 hours of video playback, totalling an additional eight hours of battery life compared to the iPhone 16.
On the rear camera array, you’ll find a 48MP primary lens, an ultra-wide lens, and the new 18MP selfie camera. The selfie camera has been improved with a Center Stage feature, which allows for better stabilisation and higher quality images and videos. Like the selfie camera on the Pro models, if you want to take a front-facing video or photo in landscape mode, you no longer have to rotate your iPhone.
iPhone 17 pricing is as follows:
- iPhone 17 128GB: $1,299
- iPhone 17 512GB: $1,599
You'll be able to buy either in a choice of black, lavender, mist blue, sage, or white.
