It's September, and you know what that means—a fresh set of iPhones. Yep, Apple has just unveiled its brand-new iPhone 17 lineup.
As usual, we're getting four new iPhones; however, the lineup looks quite different this year, with the Plus model swapped out for the new ultra-slim iPhone Air.
Let's get into everything you need to know about the iPhone 17, including new features, Singapore pricing, plans and availability.
What does the iPhone 17 look like?
If you've seen any leaked renders or dummy devices, the iPhone 17's design tweaks won't come as a huge surprise. Aside from a new range of colours (black, lavender, mist blue, sage, and white), the base model iPhone 17 looks nearly identical to last year's iPhone 16. One welcome upgrade, however, is that the base model now finally comes with the same 120Hz ProMotion display as its more expensive siblings.

We've also got an all-new device, the iPhone Air, which measures just 5.6mm thin and comes in four neutral hues: space black, cloud white, light gold, and sky blue.

As expected, the biggest overhaul is coming to the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max, which now sport a camera bar that spans the entire width of the device (or "plateau"), hinting at the major updates to the camera hardware. This year, Apple has swapped out titanium for an aerospace-grade aluminium alloy, allowing for better thermal performance. As for colours, the Pro models are available in cosmic orange, deep blue, and silver.

What new features does the iPhone 17 have?
Last year marked the debut of Apple Intelligence, and while the tech giant's take on AI didn't exactly receive rave reviews, and it wasn't discussed much during the iPhone 17 series launch event, so time will tell what the tech giant has up its sleeves.
In terms of camera hardware, it's upgrades across the board, with the iPhone 17's rear camera array retaining the same 48MP main lens but swapping the 12MP ultrawide for a 48MP ultrawide. The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max, too, are both getting a new 48MP telephoto lens with 8x zoom, which joins the existing 48MP main and 48MP ultrawide lenses. The odd one in the bunch is the iPhone Air, which sports just one rear camera, however Apple claims it's equivalent to four different lenses. All models are getting an upgraded 18MP Center Stage selfie camera, the first square front camera sensor on an iPhone.
Each year's new iPhone lineup has brought with it a new Apple processor, and the iPhone 17 series is no different, with a "standard" (for the base model) and "Pro" version (for the Air and the Pro models) of the new A19 processor.
As for battery life, Apple claims the base model iPhone 17 has eight hours more battery life than its predecessor, while the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max report six more hours of video playback than their predecessors. While the iPhone Air is significantly thinner than the iPhone 17, Apple claims it only has about three hours less battery life. It's also the only iPhone in the lineup that doesn't support a physical SIM, so you'll need to switch to eSIM.

iPhone 17 price Singapore
It's been a turbulent year for most of the world, particularly economically. Last year's entire iPhone 16 lineup was actually cheaper than the iPhone 15 series, and this year, the base model is effectively getting another price cut, thanks to the 256GB model replacing the 128GB storage variant as the entry-level option. Unfortunately, the entry point to the non-Max Pro model got more expensive this year with the removal of the 128GB storage option.

Which iPhone 17 should I get?
It's the same question that pops up with every iPhone release: Which model is right for me? The answer, of course, is that it depends on what you use your phone for. After all, someone who only uses it to scroll TikTok and FaceTime with the family probably doesn't need a Pro Max. Likewise, a hardcore mobile gamer or video editor might struggle with a base model iPhone.
Here's who we think each model is best suited for.
- iPhone 17 Pro: You're an avid photographer, video editor or content creator and need a superior camera and extra processing power to create (and polish) your best work. Or, you simply have a bit of extra cash to burn and want the best of the best.
- iPhone 17 Pro Max: Same as above, but you need a bit more battery life or prefer a larger display.
- iPhone Air: You're all about style and aesthetics. You'd like a little more screen real estate than the base iPhone 17 can offer, but not the chunky look that usually comes with it. You like taking snaps that look good enough for your Instagram grid, but don't need all the bells and whistles.
- iPhone 17: You're an everyday user, casual photographer, social media doomscroller, and frequent family FaceTimer. You're due for a new phone, but you're also trying to stick to a budget.
