- Surprisingly good battery life

In the last decade, "Pro" has become shorthand in the tech world for a step above standard. When we hear it, especially in the context of smartphones, we expect certain things—higher-spec camera lenses, a beefed-up processor, maybe a bigger battery. Unfortunately for the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold, the only thing that's really "Pro" about it, aside from its foldable form factor, is the eyewatering price.

What we like about the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold

More durable than ever. While rivals like Samsung and OPPO are striving for slimmer frames and lighter weights, Google has taken a different route, instead pouring its innovation efforts into durability. While it unfortunately means the design has been recycled from last year with no reduction in thickness or weight, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold is the first foldable smartphone to achieve an IP68 dust and water resistance rating, which is a pretty big deal.
More than protecting from dirt and splashes, however, there have also been improvements to the build of Google's latest-gen foldable. Though visually very similar to its predecessor, the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold features a new gearless hinge, which Google claims is twice as durable as the Pixel 9 Pro Fold and should be good for over 200,000 folds.
A battery that lasts all day. With two displays to power and a thinner frame to pack everything into, foldables have never exactly been known for their battery life. So I was pleasantly surprised to find that I was able to get a full day (around eight hours) of use quite consistently, only needing an evening top-up once during the week I tested the device.
Beautiful displays. The 6.4-inch outer display feels identical to that found on the rest of the non-foldable Pixel 10 family, and the inner 8-inch display is perfect for multitasking (although, as I'll get into later, the processor is not). Both are bright (up to 3,000 nits, to be exact), smooth, and responsive.
What we dislike about the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold

No camera improvements. Although the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold's camera is fantastic (and easily one of the best you'll find on a foldable), it's a real shame that there have been zero changes to the hardware. You've got the same 48MP wide lens, 10.5MP ultrawide lens, and 10.8MP telephoto lens found on the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Heck, even both selfie cameras are unchanged at 10MP.
It's not uncommon for companies to recycle camera hardware, but it's particularly disappointing considering this is a "Pro" device, and yet it performs closer to the standard Pixel 10 than the premium Pixel 10 Pro.

Underwhelming performance. When I reviewed the Google Pixel 10, I was disappointed to see how far the Tensor G5 processor lagged behind comparable devices from competitors. Considering that same processor is what's powering Google's most premium smartphone, that disappointment has only grown.
Although the Tensor G5 is fine for most tasks, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold is designed for multitasking, and in that aspect, it punches well below its weight. When unfolded, you can run two apps side by side. If those apps are quite simple, like a web browser and email client, the experience is perfectly smooth. If those apps are more demanding, like a streaming service on one half and a mobile game on the other, you'll notice a dip in performance.
Still very expensive. Foldables have been available for a good few years now, and while flip-style smartphones are starting to come down in price, book-style smartphones aren't. While it's cheaper than the $2,698 Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7, at a starting price of $2,399, the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold is pricier than a MacBook, and that's not even including mobile plan costs.
Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold - Final thoughts

I really appreciate that Google has put time and effort into making improvements to the Pixel 10 Pro Fold's durability, considering that's usually the main area that foldables struggle with. Unfortunately, that focus on a stronger build has taken away from what could have been upgrades to camera hardware or processing power.
The Pixel 10 Pro Fold is still a great phone, and although some aspects are starting to feel a little stale, I still enjoyed my time with it. The only problem is that the word "Pro" comes with certain expectations, and sadly, this device didn't quite meet them.
